How much wood a would a wood worker want if a wood worker could store wood?  Well.....this is one of the coolest things in the According to Plan shop.  This old, heavy duty, industrial shelving unit is a perfect basement wood rack. I se it to store most of my materials.  It does take quite a bit of maintenance to keep it from getting cluttered.  My wood inventory includes cherry, black walnut, aromatic cedar, furniture grade pine, red oak, small amounts of maple, birch and basswood, some barn siding, balsa blocks and even some heavy planks from a 1870's carriage house.  I also have my dowel rods, metal and plastic stock stored on it as well.  Plywood and sheet goods are stored leaning up on a couple of open wall areas.
